The Jackson county branch of West Virginia's Family Nutrition Program is seeking to teach low income West Virginians how to establish healthier, more cost effective eating habits and a more active lifestyle, something Storehouse WV wholeheartedly supports. Unfortunately the Storehouse was unable to get connected with the program because it is a government funded program and not a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, as all Storehouse recipients must be. That is, until the Jackson County Family Resource Network (FRN) stepped in to bridge the gap. The Jackson County FRN is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources, education, and assistance to the very core of their community, the families. The FRN was established "to facilitate community collaboration" and "to provide children and families access to essential services." They have put forth these efforts in the hopes that "This will strengthen the family unit, provide availability of preventive care and education, and empower our families to maximize opportunities and enhance the quality of their lives." In accordance with these purposes the Jackson County FRN hooked up with the Family Nutrition Program in order to provide more services to the community in Jackson County. According to their website, "The West Virginia Family Nutrition Program (FNP) is a statewide outreach program which focuses on nutrition, food, and physical activity through multiple projects, community-based initiatives and key partnerships. FNP prioritizes accountability and documents its impact on related behaviors of West Virginia's limited resource families." In order to enhance and help maintain their services the WV FNP sought out Storehouse WV, and because of their partnership with the Jackson County FRN the Storehouse has been able to supply this worthy organization with hundreds of dollars of toiletries, paper products, food items and office supplies for over a year of exciting, successful partnership!
