Silver Ring Thing

It's all about guys, girls, dating, love, second chances, and the right choices.

The Silver Ring Thing is a high energy, high tech event designed to teach teens and pre-teens about the dangers of premarital sex, and about the importance of choosing to remain abstinent.

As they put it, "The Silver Ring is worn as a symbol and reminder of the abstinence pledge. The 'Thing' in Silver Ring is the high-tech presentation that makes this program uniquely attractive. By featuring awesome lighting and video systems, hilarious skits, concert sound

By using both humor and technology the Silver Ring Thing gets teens involved in an environment they enjoy, making it easier to approach this often awkward subject. Probably the most promising aspect of this presentation is the use of the gospel to enhance the abstinence message. Students are taught about God's amazing love for         Over 275 kids put on the ring in

lean on His pure love when boyfriends or girlfriends try to manipulate their emotions into stepping over their boundaries.

Secular research suggests that making a pledge of abstinence delays for 18 months a young person’s sexual activity. By combining the hope of the gospel with the abstinence message that time can be extended, but it is important to keep it in front of our teens and their classmates. This is why the WV Youth Encouragers Network is working to bring SRT back to West Virginia.

In addition to the Charleston and Huntington areas, WV YEN is looking for new areas to host an event. We are looking for churches, youth groups, and anyone else who is passionate about reaching our teens with the important message of abstinence, and showing them God's love at the same time.
