Storehouse WV is looking to expand their outreach. It is great to have
items in the Storehouse that groups can come and pick up, but sometimes
those in need simply do not have the resources to come and transport the
items they need. In addition when donors wish to give items we often
must pick them up. In order to do this we currently have to use a
personal vehicle, which only holds a limited amount or we have to rent a
truck.
An
opportunity has been made available to the Storehouse to purchase a 24’
box truck that would allow us to make those deliveries and pick-ups.
Having this truck will allow us to respond immediately to a need or an
opportunity. The Board of Directors has conditionally approved the
purchase…if we can raise the money. To purchase the truck and cover
insurance and expenses we need to raise $4,000.
We have already received some help toward our goal. We recently
received a grant from a group called Americans Helping Americans ® .
Part of the grant, $1,000, is to help cover the cost of taking product
into the communities of West Virginia. Our plan is to apply this money
toward the cost of the truck, which means that we only need to raise an
additional $3,000.
If you would like to help Storehouse WV acquire this truck please
complete and return the response section of the newsletter. We will also
be looking for volunteers to be available to drive the truck. A CDL
license is not required, but experience and a good driving record are
important.
Our goal is to help West Virginians in need through the work of
churches and non-profit organizations. As Executive Director one of the
hardest conversations I have had was with a group in McDowell County.
McDowell County is ranked 55 out of 55 as West Virginia’s poorest
county. I had been introduced to a group in the county that was working
with the poorest of the poor. The group could really use the items that
the Storehouse has to offer, but they cannot afford the gas to come pick
them up. This group has been able to make one trip to the Storehouse,
but we would like to be able to do more for them and other groups like
theirs. We are hoping and praying that you will help us!
