BiWV Good News

“Can’t see the forest for the trees” is an expression that is all too real for those of us who are closely associated with the activities of Believe In West Virginia. I often have to step back and look from a distance at the organization, its direction and its accomplishments. When I do, I am generally pleased that we are continuing to do what God has called us to do.

Storehouse West Virginia continues to grow and expand its outreach to new areas of our state. About $1.5 million of merchandise was distributed in 2006 to other non-profit organizations that are meeting the needs of countless individuals. The Storehouse now has its own advisory board and is swiftly moving toward self-sufficiency. John deBlecourt, our Executive Director, does a great job of operating the Storehouse. I am certain that he will provide more details in a separate article in this newsletter.

The Youth Encouragers Network (YEN) continues to take The Silver Ring Thing to various venues around the southern half of West Virginia. The 2006 events were very exciting and well attended and our desire is to promote even more such events in 2007. John will also be providing more details from YEN in another article.

Our newest vision and calling is to be the catalyst to unite Christians in the marketplace throughout West Virginia. We are all comfortable attending our various houses of worship on Sunday and occasionally on Wednesday, but God has shown us that He also desires and deserves to be a factor in our lives outside the walls of our churches and homes. He wants a place in our business and governmental lives as well. We do not know at this point where this vision is going to lead us or what shape it will take. Please pray as we seek to do His will in this endeavor.

I need to apologize to all of our faithful supporters for not communicating more often with you. Time gets away from us. We care deeply about you and continue to be grateful for your support and encouragement.

Money continues to be a major issue with Believe in West Virginia. God always comes through, but financial discussions continue to dominate our board meeting time. In 2006 we were fortunate to receive a couple of small grants that have been put to good use. An envelope has been included with this newsletter for those of you who might be inclined to help financially. As always, please be assured that we are careful to use every dollar received for the ministry for which it was intended.

Sincerely,

Ed Gaunch, President
