BiWV Good News

In mid February, Believe in West Virginia had the opportunity to put
together a meeting for some local business and religious leaders with
the Rev. Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network
and host of the 700 Club. An
initial meeting took place between Rev. Jack Henry, BiWV Founder; John
deBlecourt, BiWV Executive Director; Ken Simpson, President of Banner
Realty; and Richard Walter, a missionary to Africa who works with Dr.
Robertson. The discussion focused on Dr. Robertson’s plans in Liberia,
West Africa, a country he hopes to help gain maximum value from their
natural resources. Much like West Virginia,
Liberia is rich with natural resources, but the people are not able to
take full advantage of the value of these resources. Liberia could
benefit immensely from prevalent resources like gold and timber, but the
country lacks the infrastructure to properly collect and process these
items.
After
additional discussions between Mr. Walters and Rev. Henry, Dr. Robertson
decided he wanted to come to West Virginia to further explain the plan
and see if there is interest here in helping his efforts. Along with
Mr. Walters and others, Dr. Robertson came and explained the spiritual
and political background of the country and their ideas for working in
Liberia.
Although no one is definite about the future of
this proposed relationship, it continues to be explored. For BiWV the
hope is to find ways to impact West Virginia and to impact the Kingdom
of God both here and around the world.
There will be more to come…
