BiWV Good News

In January 2007, anyone who had eyes to see saw a miracle. On January 13 and 14 the Silver Ring Thing came to Fayette County. These two shows were attended by over 700 people. Normally in January we would expect temperatures hovering around freezing or below, but not on these days.

On Saturday we were at Oak Hill High School; the skies were overcast, the temperature was mild, and the few showers that lingered, cleared while we were loading the SRT truck.  On Sunday in Fayetteville the show was held at the Fayette County Municipal Building, a huge gymnasium that has been the home to many county rivalry games.  Although the gym is large, the foyer is not, and there are no other rooms to be used.  We had been concerned that this lack of space might cause some difficulties, but there was no other suitable location for an event this size on a Sunday night.

At each SRT event we try and hold a meeting with the parents prior to the show, and we have an “After Event” as a follow up.  In this case, we had arranged to have the parents meeting in the nearby Fayetteville United Methodist Church, and the “After Event” in the Fayetteville Church of God, which is on the other side of the gym.  This meant that parents and students would have to be walking outside in potentially nasty conditions, so we began to pray for God to give us good weather.  Our prayers were answered with a beautiful afternoon.  On Sunday, January 14, the skies were clear and the temperature hovered between an inviting 60 and 70 degrees.  This allowed us to move the registration process outside on the porch area of the building and we had no problems moving between meetings.

God heard our pleas and moved the winter weather back a week.  Starting the next weekend the weather took a dramatic turn and for the next six weeks or so, there was snow, ice, wind and cold throughout Fayette County.  We are so grateful for God’s faithfulness and how he helped on those days in a normally frigid January!
