300
students and community members came together at Oak Hill High School on
Saturday
to experience a high energy event. It took all day to transform the
gymnasium from the home of the Red Devils to a suitable location for
dramas, videos, and a discussion on the dating habits of teenagers.
The
audience was told that “SEX IS GOOD…and it is, in the context of
marriage”. They were informed in a humorous, yet poignant, manner that
there are consequences to pre-marital sexual activity. A message of
second chances was also conveyed, letting them know that even those who
have already been sexually active can stop and choose to wait until
marriage.
The
message was well received, with 171 purchasing silver rings, as a sign
of their commitment to abstinence. The audience also heard that since
abstinence was God’s plan, that He would help them follow through on
their decision, and they learned that His help comes through a
relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. That night 41 in the crowd said
that they wanted this relationship, some for the first time! Others
realized that they had not been living as they should and so chose to
reconnect to the power source.
